January 7, 2012

Tuesday we went to Bear River Health Department to finish up our shots. We needed the Japanese Encephalitis shot and also a polio booster. They told us they would have to order the JE vaccine in and that we would need to prepay for that one. They hesitated telling us the price (which we were already aware of) because it is kind of pricey. A mere $225 a dose and it's a two shot series. And they said it takes three or four days to get here. We were a little disappointed because we need to get the first dose.  The second dose is given 28 days later and we can get it at the MTC. If we have to wait till next week, we will be cutting it close, especially when our second week at the MTC includes a couple of trips to tour the Humanitarian Center and Welfare Square. I'm not sure how available we will be. Since they only take cash or a check (we didn't have either, planning on paying with our debit card) we had to come home and get the checkbook. While here, we decided we should call the MTC and make sure we needed the shot.

Yes we do need the shot so back to Logan we go prepared with a check. Now just hope it doesn't take too long for the vaccine to arrive.

Surprise, Yesterday, TWO days later, the Health Department called and said the vaccine had arrived. They were surprised because it came so quickly. We were delighted and not surprised. We think  our Heavenly Father is blessing us. We have seen so many 'tender mercies' in our preparation.

This morning we got another email from Brother Christiansen. He told us that there is a young sister from the Kathmandu Branch serving a mission at Temple Square. He gave us her name and contact information. We are going to try and make a trip to Salt Lake and visit with her. Her mission ends in March and she will return to Nepal. We have talked to so many people who have served and been there. It's really exciting and soon we will be among that group. In case you haven't noticed, WE CAN'T WAIT!
