We weren't sure what to do. We had understood that it was an English speaking mission but quite a few people do speak Nepali (plus about 20 other languages). We emailed Elder and Sister Boreland and they said they didn't do the phone training. They told us that church was conducted in English and sometimes they would translate some of it into Nelali. We decided not to participate in that.
Then on Friday, Sister Gibson from the Welfare Department called us again and told us that we needed to take a JAWS Certification class. The certification needed to go along with our VISA to get into the country of Nepal. She asked if we would like to take it before we entered the MTC or stay an extra day and take it. It is a 4 - 6 hour class. The purpose of the class is to teach us how to help to help blind people access the internet. Now, don't ask me what that has to do with a Visa and gaining access to the country. But we will do whatever. Should be interesting.
Saturday we went shopping and got lots of white shirts and slacks, ties, and a new suit for Gene. He's looking a lot like a missionary.
We received an email this morning from Sister Sackley, Area Welfare Specialist in Hong Kong. She said they would like to Skype with us on Thursday or Friday. I emailed her back and told her either wwould work for us. We look forward to that opportunity.
